Alternative Curriculum

Year 9

Students following the Alternative Curriculum course in Year 9 will undertake a variety of subjects. They will primarily take the Prince’s Trust Personal Development and Employability Skills course. Dependent upon academic ability students will take either the Award or certificate. These will be backed up by a variety of teambuilding activities and communication skills development tasks. Students will also take part in a number of relevant extra –curricular trips and in school activities. Students will also take part in the first stage of the Drive to Ensure Programme which is based around elements of road safety.

Year 10

The current cohort of students are completing the BTEC Level 1 Jamie Oliver Cooking Skills and activities designated by the PIXL Edge Programme. Students will also take part in a number of extra- curricular trips and school activities. Students will also take part in the first stage of the Drive to Ensure Programme which is based around elements of road safety.

Year 11

Students in the current Year 11 cohort are completing the BTEC Level 1 Jamie Oliver cooking Skills alongside the final stages of the Drive to Ensure Programme. Following on from this students will begin activities designated by the PIXL Edge Programme which will provide them with a range of skills as they progress through it.
