The Malling School are continually working tirelessly to ensure the school environment is as safe a physically possible for both our staff and our pupils during this strenuous time. We are adhering closely to government guidance as well as adopting our own procedures to do our part in tackling coronavirus.

» Arrival Times

As detailed in the July letter sent to parents and carers, to ensure we minimise the number of students leaving at the same time we have made some slight adjustments to our arrival and departure times. We would ask that wherever possible you arrange for your child to come to school as close to the given time as possible and very much appreciate your support with this. The school day will begin for all students at 08:45 as normal.

Year Group Arrival Time Departure Time
7 08:45 15:10
8 08:45 15:10
9 08:45 15:15
10 08:40 15:20
11 08:40 15:20
12 08:40 15:15
13 08:40 15:15
» Travel to School

Please can we remind parents and carers that wherever possible, students should be encouraged to walk or safely cycle to school. Where parents and carers are dropping off in a private car please could you support reducing congestion at our entrances by dropping off at a safe place and walking the short remainder of the journey. Students travelling to school by taxi will be met by staff at the beginning of the day and escorted to the Tydeman building. At the end of the day staff will escort students to their taxi when their taxi arrives. If travelling by taxi, public or school bus please can you support by reminding students to adhere to the government guidance regarding the use of face masks on public transport.

» Reducing Mixing of Students

To reduce the mixing of students, our timetable has been re-roomed to ensure year groups are kept separate as much as possible whilst continuing to follow our ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum. Movement around the site is minimised as much as possible and will be carefully supervised. Students will be following a one-way system which will be clearly marked and communicated to them in their year group welcome back assembly. All break and lunch times will also be staggered and supervised by our Senior Leadership Team.

» Enhanced Hygiene

Over the summer holidays our support team have worked hard to ensure our site is fully ready to welcome our students back safely. Every classroom has a fixed hand sanitiser which students will be supervised to use each time they enter a classroom. We have also employed additional cleaning staff to ensure that all hard surfaces, especially those touched by different people, such as door handles and toilet facilities, are kept clean throughout the day.

» School Lunch Arrangements

We are very pleased that our school meal provider, Chartwells will be continuing to provide nutritious hot and cold meals. This will be a preordering service and further details can be found under the "School Menu Choices" tab on the website.
