The Malling School is Cleaning Up!

Picture4A group of year 10 and 11 pupils are taking part in a new qualification called PiXL Edge. PiXL Edge is a framework for schools to develop personal attributes which are essential for employability and life. The scheme focuses on five key attributes; leadership, organisation, initiative, resilience and communication.

The pupils have began at apprentice level which requires them to achieve two activities from  each of the five attributes.

Picture3As part of the initiative attribute; Year 10 pupils wanted to improve the amount of litter which is often found on the outskirts of The Malling School and set about organising a ‘ litter pick’ of the local area.

The event was a huge success with seven full bin bags  of rubbish collected. Throughout the event the pupils had many positive comments from local  residents about the excellent work they were doing and how grateful they were.

The pupils were impeccable behaved and excellent ambassadors for the school.

The pupils have now agreed to create an anti litter campaign within the school to ensure littering decreases. This campaign will allow the pupils to achieve their next activity within the communication category.
