Introducing Hiroki, a therapy and reading dog

Hiroki_03Hiroki the Japanese Shiba Inu has been in school working with students in the Tydeman Centre as a therapy and reading dog as part of on-going research by members of teaching staff within the school.

He has been helping the students to feel calm and relaxed in lessons and tutorials, whilst helping them to develop their reading skills. Some students have also been taking on the extra responsibility of taking him for walks and supervising him during break and lunch times.

Photos starting from the top are,

  • Sebastian Webb (7y) reading (the very fitting!) Fantastic Mr Fox to Hiroki.
  • Hiroki Enjoying a story from Matthew Lisle (7y)
  • Hiroki artwork by William Juxon (9x)
