Angling Trust Cast Award

SAM_0455Some year 8 and 9 pupils are taking part in an Angling Programme run by the Charity Fishing 4 Schools, in conjunction with the Angling Trust and Countryside Alliance. This term they are taking part in 3 sessions, so they can gain the Angling Trust Cast Award.

The first day was looking to be a wash out, so in preparation for this, pupils spent the morning at Hadlow College’s fishery site, where they took part in indoor activities. Their first session was learning the basics of how to behave and how to respect the countryside, and treat it in a responsible way. Pupils learnt the countryside code and how to handle and treat the fish responsibly. They then moved on to rigs and tactics, where they had a go at tying and preparing their own rigs, ready to use out on the Hadlow Lake.

SAM_0458The afternoon session was on the lake, where they used a variety of methods, from fishing with a pole, to feeder fishing. All pupils caught a number of fish, with the biggest of the day going to Taylor Reynolds, a pristine Carp of 12lbs.

Their next session is at Monk Lakes in Stapelhurst.
