Tudor Experience by Maidstone Museum

SAM_0394On Friday 3rd July, the year 7 classes were treated to a ‘hands on’ visit from the learning team at Maidstone Museum.

The pupils spent some time trying to identify artefacts and replicas from Tudor life. Items were grouped into ‘social classes’ and included such curiosities as pewter goblets, pottery ink dryers and an ice skate made out of a cow’s bone. They were also able to inspect a bullrush candle which literally burnt at both ends…

The session ended with some Tudor dance step routines to the sound of Henry VIII’s ‘ Greensleeves’.
