Angling Trust Cast Awards - With Fishing4schools

Students from the Malling school recently completed their level 1 Cast awards, in conjunction with the charity, Fishing 4 Schools. The students learnt a wide variety of topics, from fish biology, knots and the countryside code.

The award is to enable young people to become responsible anglers, who look after the countryside and the fish they catch. To attain the award, students had to take part in practical skills, such as tying rigs, and demonstrating they can competently handle and look after the fish they catch, to learning to recognising different species, their habitats and freshwater invertebrate .

Students completed the award on Friday 6th November, after 4 sessions at Hadlow College and Monk Lake fisheries, Kent.

The course was fully funded by The Countryside Alliance, The Angling Trust and Fishing4Schools which was started by world famous Fly Angler, Charles Jardine.
