World Book Day 2016

IMG_0129-2Today we celebrate World Book Day 2016, with a ‘Peter Pan’ theme and visit from children’s and teenage published author Alan Durant.

On World Book Day we can acknowledge the impact that stories have on us all.  Stories challenge us, enlighten and shock us.  World Book Day is a superb opportunity to have a genuine, published author lead creative writing workshops with year 11, 7, 9 and 10.  Alan Durant returns for this, his second visit as he led a small workshop with ten students on Rewards Day in June 2015.  He was so engaging and inspiring that we had to ask him back!

Year 11 have just begun their creative writing coursework, and so Alan Durant’s visit couldn’t come at a better time.  Several stories from all years won particular applause but all the students’ efforts won merit.
