Band Events

This weekend the school band had another busy couple of days performing in the local community for various Christmas events. On Friday evening we headed to Eccles to perform in a new event for us. This was the turning on of the Christmas lights in the village, which marked the end of an afternoon of Christmas themed events based at St. Marks Primary school. We played a variety of Christmas carols with parents, visitors and school children stood around the tree singing along. This was a very enjoyable event and seemed to be very popular judging by the vast number of people who were there, but was the coldest we have played at this year.

On Sunday we returned to the Leybourne Christmas event in the donkey field on Castle Way. Beginning with Father Christmas turning on the tree lights we then played a selection of Christmas carols, sung to by some of The Malling School choir and the choir from the local church. The weather was very kind to us and stayed dry and unusually warm, which made a nice change!

The band have finished all of their weekend events, but with a performance this Thursday at St. Mark’s Primary school for their assembly, Leybourne Grange’s Nativity and the school Christmas concert to go, we are still rehearsing.

Could I add a big thank you to all of the parents/carers of band members who have bought them to the different events and stood out in the cold with us, singing along to the carols. It is greatly appreciated and I will bring some sleigh bells next year for you!
