Employability Day

On Wednesday 7th March Year 12 and 13 took part in an Employability Day. Throughout the day, students moved between five zones designed to challenge them and develop transferrable skills.

A group interview task gave students the chance to develop their communication skills whilst learning how to carry themselves in an assessment day for a job interview. There was a mini careers fair covering a variety of occupations and training opportunities. The University of Creative Arts ran a workshop on employability skills, which included a subject taster to learn new skills.

The interview skills zone included a 15 minute one-to-one interview with an employer. Students received constructive feedback on how they performed. Recruitment company Pearson-Whiffen also ran a CV masterclass. The students thoroughly enjoyed the day and the employers were very impressed with how polite and professional they were when interacting with them.
