Christmas Concert Preparation

Term two is always a busy one for the Performing Arts department with the Christmas concert to rehearse for, as well as other musical performances outside of school.

The concert this year will take place on Wednesday 19th December at 7pm in the school hall. Our Year 11 Music pupils have to plan and organise the concert as part of their BTEC course, and in lessons this week they will be making a start on this.

The concert is a celebration of the festive period and provides all pupils with the chance to be involved, in a number of ways.

All pupils are invited to join the school choir, which rehearses on a Monday lunchtime in M6. There is no need to audition – it is open to anyone regardless of singing ability.

Woodwind and Brass players are encouraged to come and join the school band, which rehearse on Tuesday lunchtimes in M6. Musicians need to be of about grade 1 standard in order to access the music, although arrangements can be made to provide simpler versions. The school band is very popular in the local community and we already have three events lined up to play at over the Christmas period.

The concert will also involve actors and dancers. Mr Addis is running drama club on Thursday lunchtimes where pupils will be rehearsing a pantomime. We are also looking for pupils to read festive poems in the concert.

Please direct pupils to Miss Cox if they have any further questions. More details about the concert will come out nearer the time.
