Engineering Road Show

The Malling School takes careers education very seriously. On Thursday 14 November the East Malling school hosted a ‘Be a part of engineering construction' road show.  Students from all Year groups took part, from Year 8 right through to the Sixth Form.  The event was organised by Mrs Helen Cable, Subject Lead for Vocational Education at the Beech Road school and run by a team of trainers from the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).  Students were introduced to the concept of construction engineering, the cornerstone of so many industries and manufacturing processes.  They learned about skill sets and how important it is to recognise your own strengths so that you can match your skills to a chosen profession.  They were also made aware of the different pathways into construction engineering, such as apprenticeships and university.

Mrs Cable said: “We are grateful to ECITB for giving our students this excellent insight into careers opportunities in engineering construction.”
