Year 9 Science Investigations

Stomata 1With winter approaching and leaves falling fast, Year 9 have been looking at the structure of leaves as part of a science investigation.

"We took peels of the lower epidermal layer of spider plant leaves. These were then stained and looked at using a light microscope."

Images were then taken through the microscope of what the students found. They show the cells of the leaf as well as the stomata which regulate gas exchange in the plant.

Be sure to visit the science Department on Open Evening, look out for more amazing photographs from the microscopic world around you.
