Blue Peter Badge
The final project in Music for Year 9 students is a Song Writing project, where students learn about how songs are created and then work in groups to create their own original song. Students can choose to write their song about anything they like. One year 9 student, Lukas Rawson, worked on his with his singing and piano teacher, Miss Harris. He decided to write his about Planet Earth, the suffering of the animals and destruction of nature, and told me that he hoped one day that Sir David Attenborough would hear it. Called ‘Work Together’, the chorus says ‘If we can change, we can make it better. If we decide, We will work together’.
Miss Harris decided to send Lukas’ song into Blue Peter, and I am really pleased that they recognised the hard work Lukas had put into his song and the message behind it and awarded him a Blue Peter badge.
The photo shows a proud Lukas wearing his badge, along with Miss Harris.
Miss Harris is one of a small group of fantastic peripatetic music teachers we have in school. Further information about music lessons can be found here.
