Geography

The study of geography is about more than just memorising places on a map. It's about understanding the complexity of our world, appreciating the diversity of cultures that exists across continents. And in the end, it's about using all that knowledge to help bridge divides and bring people together ".

Department Vision Statement/ Curriculum Intent

The geography curriculum at The Malling School aims to inspire, equip and empower our pupils.

Our Earth is inherited from past generations and is a loan from future generations. It is a diverse and constantly changing place of immense power and vulnerability. At The Malling School, we aim to develop pupils who are world thinkers, equipped with the skills to make future local and global decisions.

Our curriculum is designed to inspire pupils to become global citizens, to embrace other cultures and to connect with the natural environment. Our challenging and rich curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills to challenge misconceptions and think critically about the world around us. This knowledge and skill empowers pupils to take action on a local and global scale, to ensure a sustainable future.

As a department we are passionate about our subject, drawing upon a wealth of personal experience to guide pupils on their learning journey. Lessons are dynamic and engaging, aiming to inspire by bringing the world to the classroom.

With powerful geographical education, students are able to become directors of their own lives.
